ORCID ID of Authors
ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) is a unique identifier for researchers and scholars that provides a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes an individual from every other researcher. Researchers can obtain an ORCID iD for free by registering with the ORCID website and completing their profile.
NEPT Journal encourages the authors to register and create their ORCID iD and share it with us while submitting the manuscripts so as to add it in the published paper.
Authorship
Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study, drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content in accordance with COPE guidelines. Do not “gift” authorship to those who did not contribute to the paper.
The editors can ask the authors to provide a contribution certificate signed by the university authorities if required.
Types of articles
Original Research Papers: An original research paper is a primary source that presents the results of an original study, experiment or investigation carried out by the authors. The purpose of an original research paper is to present new findings or insights into a particular research question or problem, based on data or evidence collected by the authors. All papers submitted to journal must have an abstract (up to 300 words), and conclusion that is brief and clear (Abstarct and conlusion should not have any reference).
Review Research Papers: A review research paper is a secondary source that provides a comprehensive and critical analysis of existing literature on a particular research topic or question. The purpose of a review research paper is to summarize and synthesize the current state of knowledge on a particular topic, identify gaps or inconsistencies in the literature, and highlight areas where further research is needed.
Submission checklist
Before sending your work to the journal for evaluation, you can utilize this list to perform one last review. For more information, please refer to the relevant section of this guide for authors.
- The manuscript is following the structure specific to the type of article.
- One author has been designated as the corresponding author with contact details i.e. E-mail address and Full postal address.
- ORCID iDs of the authors are mentioned in the paper.
- The manuscript includes the Keywords, all figures (include relevant captions), all tables (including titles, description, footnotes). Ensure all figure and table numbers are citied in the text.
- Manuscript has been 'spell checked' and 'grammar checked'
- All references mentioned in the Reference List are cited in the text, and vice versa. References follow the pattern of the journal.
- Appropriate permission and acknowledgement are taken for all the copyright materials used in the paper.
- Journal policies detailed in this guide have been reviewed
Submission of manuscript for publication
- The paper needs to be submitted online in a single WORD file through the journal’s website: https://editorial.neptjournal.com/index.php/1/about/submissions
Preliminary Scrutiny of the Paper
Once the paper is received, it undergoes a primary scrutiny which broadly includes plagiarism, scope, language, scientific content and relevance of the research, and suitability to the standard of the journal. If the paper meets the criteria of acceptance, the authors are communicated about the same and they are asked to send a signed Author’s Certificate (Declaration in the Journal’s Format) and Names of at least two potential reviewers.
Suggesting reviewers
The authors need to submit the names and institutional e-mail addresses of minimum two potential reviewers who can review the manuscript. The authors cannot suggest the reviewers from the same institution, or with whom they have collaborated during the last two years. Existing members of the journal's editorial advisory board should not be recommended as reviewers by the author.
Format of manuscript
- Manuscripts must be in English, typewritten using Arial or Times New Roman fonts only, and double-spaced throughout leaving appropriate margins on both the sides.
- First page of mss should contain the title of the paper, name(s) of author(s) and name and address of Organization(s) where the work has been carried out along with the affiliation of the authors and ORCID Ids. Mention the corresponding author who will handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing and publication, also post-publication.
- The text of the manuscript should run into Abstract, Introduction, Materials & Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgement (if any) and References, or other suitable headings in case of reviews and theoretically oriented papers. The references should be in full containing names of all the authors with the title of the paper.
- The figures should preferably be made on a computer with high resolution and should be capable of withstanding a reasonable reduction with the legends provided separately outside the figures. Photographs may be black and white or color.
- Tables should be typed separately bearing a short title, preferably in vertical form. They should be of a size, which could easily be accommodated in the page of the Journal.
- References in the text should be cited by the authors’ surname and year. In case of more than one reference of the same author in the same year, add suffix a,b,c,.... to the year. For example: (Thomas 1969, Mass 1973a, 1973b, Madony et al. 1990, Abasi & Soni 1991).
References
The references cited in the text should be arranged alphabetically by authors’ surname in the following manner: (Note: The titles of the papers should be in running ‘sentence case’, while the titles of the books, reports, theses, journals, etc. should be in ‘title case’ with all words starting with CAPITAL letter). Use of DOI is highly encouraged.
The references cited in the text should be in the Harvard Style of Reference Writing. Use of DOI is highly encouraged. When referencing a website in a research paper, you should include Author or Organization, Date of Publication, Title of the Page, URL and Access Date.
